About
COASTAL WARRIORS
Coastal Warriors Mid North Coast was Founded in 2017. We are a volunteer-based organisation located in Port Macquarie and our aim is to prevent plastics and other harmful objects entering our oceans and waterways that impact marine life and damage our ecosystems on the New South Wales Mid North Coast. The organisation was formed after Port Macquarie local Addam Lockley attended clean up Australia day annually and realised the shocking amount of waste that was being collected from the beaches. A team of passionate ocean lovers and conservationists established the organisation and the journey began to protect the oceans and marine life.
What we do
Coastal Warriors Mid North Coast host monthly clean ups at beaches and parks on the coast to prevent plastics and other harmful objects entering our oceans, which are causing damage to marine life and ecosystems. We collect the waste and then collate the data and log it in to Tangaroa Blues national marine debris database. The data is important for research purposes and prevention methods. Coastal Warriors aim to create a community based movement not only to help the environment, but also to educate people on the importance of recycling, the damaging impacts of pollution, and a sustainable future. We provide marine focused workshops at pre-schools, primary-schools, high-schools as well as businesses and community organisations.
